Trust: The Foundation of Great Relationships

Chris Gies
Senior Vice President of Advisor Education, Capital Group

Showing your choices and decisions are in alignment of the best interests of your clients is important in building a lasting relationship. Chris Gies, senior vice president of advisor education at Capital Group, shares his years of experience on how advisors can build and maintain trust with clients.

Chris Gies: While credibility, consistency and connection are integral parts of building deeper relationships, intent is the most important element of any relationship. Demonstrating that all of your choices and all of your decisions have been made in the best interest of your clients is critical to building and to maintaining that level of trust with them. Conveying why you became a wealth advisor and showing how your intent aligns with theirs is incredibly powerful in building trust.

Your goal should be to assure you’re fully transparent and intentional in communicating with clients about all aspects of your practice from compensation all the way through to investment selection. That transparency begins in your initial meetings and should indeed become part of every meeting with existing clients and even prospects.
