13 American Funds Named Among “Fantastic 43” by Morningstar

For the sixth year in a row, investment research firm Morningstar® added several American Funds to its list of standout mutual funds in its universe. Of the 43 funds chosen from a universe of roughly 8,000 eligible funds, 13 were American Funds. Funds were selected based on meeting or exceeding Morningstar’s strict quantitative requirements.

To qualify, a fund must have:

  • Expenses in the lowest quintile for the category
  • A Morningstar analyst rating of bronze or higher
  • Results exceeding the fund’s benchmark through the longest manager tenure
  • A risk level below Morningstar’s High category
  • A manager with at least five years’ fund experience
  • At least one manager with $1 million invested in the fund
  • A positive parent rating
  • Availability not limited to institutional investors
